Questions Students Ask Before Applying
Is there a maximum age for students?
No partner university in Georgia sets one. The only limits: you must be 18 or older at SEU, and the University of Georgia asks anyone over 30 to contact its staff before applying.
Can I start a degree with 10 grades of school?
No – Bachelor’s and one-cycle programs at all our universities need a completed secondary school diploma.
Does it matter when I finished school?
Not at all. An older diploma, say from 2010, 2012 or 2015, is accepted as long as it is valid and recognized.
What if my visa application fails?
Your tuition comes back: each partner university refunds what you paid against official proof of the refusal, and most refund it in full.
When do new students start?
Usually in Fall or Spring, as most universities have two intakes. European University is different: it admits students once a year, for the Autumn semester.
Will I have to pass national exams?
No. International applicants skip Georgia’s Unified National Exams: NCEQE recognizes your documents and the Ministry of Education approves your admission.
Which English level is required?
Most universities look for B2, such as IELTS 5.5–6.0 or around 61–78 in the TOEFL iBT, while Georgian Technical University accepts B1. Without a certificate you can usually take the university’s own English test or interview.
Is translation of my documents required?
Usually: most universities ask for your passport, diploma and transcript in Georgian, certified by a notary, while Alterbridge University asks for English translations. Our Local Student Support team arranges translation and notarization in Georgia.
Are all lectures in English?
Yes – every program in our Georgia list is taught fully in English.
Which visa do students use for Georgia?
The D3 immigration visa for studies. Citizens of visa-exempt countries – for example the EU, the USA, the UAE, Israel and Turkey – can enter visa-free for up to one year. In Georgia, you then apply for a residence permit before your legal stay ends.
