NCEQE recognition explained
Instead of entrance exams, Georgia checks your previous education: the national agency NCEQE recognizes it, then the Ministry confirms your place at the university.
Why recognition is needed
The agency confirms your certificate or diploma is genuine and equivalent to the Georgian qualification your program requires. Your university submits the file for you, and the Ministry of Education then issues the order that admits you.
Fees and timing
NCEQE's published fees (add 5 GEL for postal delivery):
What goes into the recognition file
- The application form
- A notarized Georgian translation of your passport copy
- Your school certificate or diploma with its transcript or supplement, translated into Georgian and notarized
- The receipt of the fee
- A power of attorney if someone applies for you
Next steps
The Ministry's order
Expect the Ministry's order roughly 5 days to a month after NCEQE receives your file.
Pay and receive your letters
After paying the tuition (or its first part) you get your enrollment and invitation letters.
Apply for the visa
These letters are the base of your D3 visa file, if you need a visa.
Quick answers
Is there an entrance exam for foreigners in Georgia?
There isn't – recognition by NCEQE and the Ministry's approval take its place.
What are NCEQE's fees?
From 40 GEL (regular, about a month) to 250 GEL (one business day).
Do I deal with NCEQE myself?
No – the university files it, and our team prepares your translated documents.
Will my home country recognize a Georgian degree?
Recognition at home is decided by your own country's authorities; health students in particular should confirm it early.
