Study in Georgia for citizens of Finland
Admission, documents, the D3 study visa and the programs open to you, in one guide. This is a planning guide, not an admission or visa decision.
Your questions as a citizen of Finland
Can citizens of Finland study in Georgia?
Yes. Citizens of Finland can apply to Georgian universities with a full secondary school diploma (or a Bachelor’s degree for Master’s programs). The university assesses your documents and NCEQE recognizes them; the Ministry of Education makes the final decision.
Do citizens of Finland need a visa for Georgia?
Check your passport on the official GeoConsul “Do I need a visa?” service, with your citizenship, passport type and planned stay. Students who need a visa apply for the D3 study visa. A visa-free entry does not by itself settle long-term study arrangements.
Which programs can I apply for?
Secondary school graduates can apply for Bachelor’s and one-cycle programs (Medicine, Dentistry). Bachelor’s graduates can also apply for Master’s programs, and Master’s graduates for doctoral programs.
What documents do I need for admission?
Your passport, completed education certificates and transcripts, a 3×4 photo and, at most universities, an English certificate or an internal English test. Most universities need the documents translated into Georgian and notarized.
What do I need for the D3 study visa?
The visa application form and fee receipt, your passport and photo, proof of finances, proof of accommodation, travel insurance, and the invitation and acceptance letters from your university.
How long does it take?
Recognition and university approval take from about 5 days to 1 month, and visa processing up to about 4 weeks. Allow extra time for appointments.
What happens after I arrive?
Register at the university, settle into your accommodation and apply for a residence permit before your legal stay ends. Our Local Student Support team helps with all of this.
